FINAL RESULTS 2007VODKA ICE SHOWS SPIRIT
Burghley Young Event Horse - four-year-old qualifier
Vodka Ice ridden by Emma Winter was the winner of the first competition to be held at this year's Festival of British Eventing, presented by BETA. Vodka Ice was the winning horse in the four-year-old Burghley Young Event Horse qualifier for a place in the final at Burghley Horse trials at the end of the month.
The grey, almost white, Thoroughbred is by the Sadlers Wells son Accondy, who used to stand at nearby West Kington Stud and was bred by his owners, Mel and Robert Puddick who are based at Charlton near Malmesbury. Vodka Ice is out of their homebred mare Seahorse, who is by the former James Fanshawe trained grey Environment Friend. She is a sister to our advanced event horses Henbitten and Applemoss but we kept her purely for breeding to keep the line, said Robert Puddick who now has nine broodmares to breed from.
Cumbrian rider Ruth Edge was second on Elite Opposition owned by Anne Lawson. The black gelding is by the popular Trakehner event sire Fleetwater Opposition while Alison Lidstone was third with the Irish-bred Tullabeg Roller by the Cavalier Royale son High Roller.
Result: 1, Vodka Ice (E Winter) 77; 2, Elite Opposition (R Edge) 76; 3, Tullabeg Roller (A Lidstone) 75; 4, Willows Accent (R Allen) 74; 5, High Time (G Law) 71.

OTTOWA DIODE SCORES ANOTHER WINOttowa Diode added another win to his CV winning the five-year-old Burghley Young Event Horse qualifier with Kitty Boggis at The Festival of British Eventing presented by BETA. Keith Scott's French-bred grey stallion, who also has several pre-novice wins under his belt this season, gained full marks in the final section judged by Mike Trickey making him invincible.
Badminton winner Lucinda Fredericks was second on Mike Todd'S R Lillibet. The homebred bay mare is by the Thoroughbred stallion Roviris and a first for his Holstein mare by Landgraf. also really like dressage and have some dressage horses but Lillibet prefers doing this and will stay eventing, said Mike.
William Fox-Pitt, who has 10 horses entered here over five classes, made his first visit to the main arena this weekend with the Fox-Pitt Eventing Clubs stallion Oslo Biats and finished in third place to gain the final qualifying place for the finals at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.
