2011 RESULTSHEYTHROP PONY CLUB JUMP FOR JOYThe Heythrop Pony Club ran out the winners of the British Equestrian Trade Association Inter Branch team Pony Club show jumping at the Festival of British Eventing.
Twenty one teams contested the popular competition that takes place in the main arena. After the first round the teams jump the second round according to the reverse order of merit and at the end of the two rounds two teams, The Polden Hills and The Heythrop were equal on four faults meaning that a rider from each had to contest a timed jump off.
Kathryn O'Sullivan and her palomino Narnia for the Polden Hills were the first to go but a sharp turn to the upright Land Rover planks resulted in a refusal. Betsy Glasgow and Pascal for the Heythrop managed to put in their third clear round of the day to clinch the win for her Pony Club. Its been years since we won here but we have a good team of experienced show jumpers this year who have benfitted from team training with Sophie Martindale, said Heytrhop team manager Marjorie Glasgow.
It had been a long twenty four hours for the Polden Hills who the previous day had been competing in the pony Club competition at Hickstead. We then got stuck in traffic coming here and consequently were late but this has made up for it and Narnia who jumped seven rounds at Hickstead thoroughly deserves a few days off now, said a parent.
The local Pony Clubs the Beaufort Hunt and The Minchinhampton took third place and fourth place and the top six teams received prizes from Claire Williams the Executive Director of The British Equestrian Trade Association who sponsored the class.
